Full Day Base of The Towers
We will pick you up from your accommodation at 7:30 am. with our private vehicle to go to Torres del Paine National Park. We will be driving (150 km/94 miles) in direction north-west on a beautiful route during two hours (1 hour gravel road), across the typical Magellanic Estancias (ranches) of endless land and abundant sheep, within the immensity of the Patagonian pampas, molded by ancient glaciers. Along the way we are very likely to spot some Patagonian wildlife such as guanacos, foxes, rheas, flamingos, caracaras, eagles, and condors if we are lucky. As we approach the Park, the road will gradually introduce us to mountainous landscape. We will see big lakes, high summits and glaciers.
We are going into the Park through the Laguna Amarga entrance, admiring Mount Almirante Nieto and its thick hanging glaciers together with the mythical Torres del Paine, three imposing granite giants rising 2850 m/9,100ft into the sky.
Once at the parking area, we are leaving the car behind to start our hike toward the viewpoint for the Torres del Paine by a trail up the Ascencio River valley. Along the hike through dense beech forests (Nothofagus pumilio), we will stop to admire lakes, waterfalls and hanging glaciers. After around three hours we will start to ascend a steep moraine towards the top viewpoint for the Torres del Paine at 900 m.a.s.l. (2,950ft). There, we may be rewarded with an up-close view of the massive granite towers and the turquoise glacial lake at their base, located in a rugged mountain terrain of truly breathtaking beauty. We will have lunch and relax in one of the most unforgettable settings in the world. Then we will take the same way back to the vehicle for our return to Puerto Natales, tired but happy with our adventure.
